Leith Books is an imprint of Monstrous Regiment Publishing Ltd. It was founded in 2017 by Lauren Nickodemus and Ellen Desmond.

As students, they successfully crowdfunded their first publication The Bi-ble: Essays About Bisexuality which has sold out every print run since. In 2021, their first fiction title Duck Feet by Ely Percy won the Saltire Society’s Scottish Book of the Year and Scottish Fiction Book of the Year.

Lauren and Ellen have both spoken at events and book festivals around Scotland about the power of start-up publishing and the challenges facing the small press publishing scene. After a wee hiatus, the press is back in action for 2023 with more new projects coming soon.
